Five Blocks, One Print: Carving Tahoe Dusk

Today marks a small milestone in my studio — the fifth and final block for my next reduction linocut print is carved and ready to go.

Reduction printmaking means each color in the final piece comes from the same block, carved away in stages between print runs. It's a one-way process: once you cut, you can't go back. This piece uses five separate blocks, with the last serving as the true key block — the one that locks in the fine detail and holds the whole composition together.

Every step of this print, from the initial sketch to the final pull, is designed, carved, and printed entirely by hand.
